My Story

Hi, my name is Jessica, I’m 18 years old. I just finished my first year of college and this is my story. I’m an only child. I live here with my mom. My dad moved out a couple of years ago. They fought all the time. I thought it was just current that they would fight, but apparently it’s been since I was little and they just hid it. They are more than likely getting a divorce and aren’t getting back together. Now as a teenage girl that’s hard to hear right? Yeah. My mom gets mad a lot, she yells, she takes her anger out on other people. She’s a good person though. There are times that I sit in my room and cry. I let it get to me. No, I don’t get bullied. But I do know what it feels like to be upset and cry and not want to talk to anyone and even the point of depression. When my mom gets mad, I get mad. My Positivity Story

Okay, so where do I begin? So, before June 11th, 2012, I would get upset over every single little thing, even when it didn’t pertain to me. The things that would upset me were little things my mom would say, how my mom was acting, every little thing. I’d get upset and cry in my bedroom. No one in my family would know what was wrong. I’d just say I was tired or I had something in my eye, or that it was just watering. I’d never say the real reason. I’d lock myself in my room and blast music so no one would hear me cry. Then I had this talk with one of my friends. He is almost always positive and I asked how he does it. He told me that he just doesn’t let anything bother him for more than ten minutes, so I decided to try that. So far, I’m succeeding. Of course, it’s hard sometimes, but I just push the feeling out of my head, put a smile on my face and continue. I’ve never been happier. Even when it comes unnoticed, we're gradually changing each day either for the better or worse. What you watch, listen to, or read, becomes a part of you. Every single bit makes a difference and adds onto your pathway to a positive or negative life. There's no specific number of books you read, videos you watch, podcasts you listen to, which will bring you to the maximum potential of negativity or positivity, everyone is different. Everyone is at a different point in their lives, and one thing won't work out for every single person.
